So this interior design photography shoot came a little out of the blue. One tuesday afternoon we were happily photographing a project down here in Orlando when a phone call came in from the team at Studio M asking if we could fly to Utah tomorrow for an interior design photography shoot. We threw some t-shirts into a bag, charged up the Canon batteries and come Wednesday morning we were on a flight out to Denver before driving through the beautiful mountains towards Moab.

After a fairly aggressive day of traveling we make it to the shoot location and get our first glimpse of the home and what we will be photographing, and my word this place is incredible. First of all, the red rock in Moab makes you feel like you are on Mars – the scenery here is like nothing we have seen before. It truly is like you have stumbled onto the set of the old road runner cartoons.

Nestled into this incredible scenery, this home boasts glass doors that span the totality of one side of the building, showcasing the breathtaking views. During the course of the day the rock is constantly being transformed by the sun, through the shadows it casts and is something quite mesmerising. Having the backdrop for this interior design photography shoot was something very special.

The guys at Studio M once again gave smashed the interior design out the park on this one. The delicate use of colors and furniture that compliments the design of the building without fighting with it for attention. We came away from this interior design photography shoot with a bagload of portfolio images. They say you shouldn’t have favorites but…..

Photographing Don Wallace’s Tampa Mansion

Real estate shoots don’t come much bigger than this, whether we are talking square footage or price tag. If you happen to have $22 million stuffed down the back of your sofa then this property could be the one for you. Bare in mind, Zillow thinks you will likely need $110,000 a month to keep this home functioning. Keeping this place looking as good as it does is a full-time job for a small army.

Known as The Oaks, is among the largest single-family residences in Hillsborough County.

This French Normandy style mansion is home to Don Wallace, the founder and former CEO of Lazydays RVs. We were commissioned to shoot this masterpiece by the team over at Smith and Associates Real Estate.

Designed by Cooper Johnson Smith Peterson Architects this home has it all. 27,000 square foot main house – tick, 8 bedrooms – tick, 12 bathrooms, 16 half bathrooms, seven-car garage, two-story guest house, pool house, six-bay horse stable, and barn – tick. The list goes on… an 11,000 square foot air-conditioned state of the art workshop, 2 story boathouse, 1-mile jogging trail, antique car collector garage, and gatehouse. Throw in 400 mature live oaks and 21 imported Italian Cypress Trees for good measure as well.

4 contiguous properties were acquired to form the 36-acre estate with 1,278 feet of lake frontage.

Oh, and it sits on nearly 21 acres with its own racetrack. Probably missed something but you get the picture, if this home doesn’t have it it’s probably not worth having.

Photographing ‘Shaq-apulco’ – Shaquille O’Neals $28 Million Florida Mega Mansion.

We photographed this a couple of years back now but I think its well overdue a revisit. We shot Shaquille O’Neal’s Orlando mansion in Windermere Florida for Dan Natoli at Premier Sotheby’s back in 2018. Shaq has had this place since 1993 when he picked up for just under $4 million dollars. At the time he was one year out of college and playing as a rookie for the Orlando Magic. Not a bad for your first home eh?

O’Neal’s master bedroom is 900 square feet, with a fireplace, projector, four-room walk-in closet, his-and-her master baths, and two balconies.

So we turn up for this shoot and my god this place is beyond big, there are Principalities in Europe that could probably fit into the grounds of Shaq-apulco. We do the tour of the home to see what we are getting into and see there is a bit of theme going on in this place. Lots and lots of Superman logos including one emblazoned across Shaq’s custom 15 by 30 foot round bed. Head to the living room and there is an articulated truck coming through the wall with a built-in custom fish tank featured the Superman logo. Head to the dock and there is a full-size superman statue overlooking Lake Butler.

An hour later and I’m pretty certain we have seen most of Shaquille O’Neal’s Orlando mansion. That includes the two-story foyer with double princess staircases. The 1,170 square feet great room with lake views, complete with a two-story stone fireplace. The indoor basketball court surrounded by framed memorabilia, and low-rise bleachers. The 95-foot-long pool that’s 15 feet deep at the far end, with a rock waterfall. An Egyptian-themed room with a saltwater fish tank, walk-in humidor, outdoor kitchen, cabana and more. Safe to say we are going to have a busy day.

We finish the day with some abosultely cracking images and end up having our imagery featured across and tonne of sites – TMZ, Forbes, ABC, LA Times, New York Post, USA Today & the Robb Report to name but a few. Thats the kind of exposure every Realtor dreams of for their luxury real estate listing. Earlier in the year, we traveled down to St.Petersburg to capture some interiors photography for a new custom home designed by the talented team at Studio M. After saddling up the trusty Tacoma we bravely made our way south on the glorified carpark that is I4. After devouring a long list of post casts we finally arrived at this stunning red brick riverside home.

Built and designed by Cooper Johnson Smith this home has a wealth of beautiful architectural details scattered throughout. Combine this with the exceptional design skills of Michelle and the team at Studio M and you have a home that is going to photograph extremely well.

With a wealth of natural light to play with, this home was a joy to photograph. At the end of the day, we walked away from this interiors photography shoot with a bagful of portfolio images. Don’t believe me, see for yourself.

Real Estate Drone Photography and Video – understanding the positives.

Drone photography and video are two huge tools in the arsenal of a realtor and have been around for a number of years now. The benefits that drone photography and video can bring to your listing are numerous.

These nimble little beauties are great at highlighting that golf course view or lake frontage that are going to help sell your listing.

They also work wonders when it comes to promoting your listing proximity to nearby shops and restaurants. On top of this, there are many more positives your marketing can gain from drone photography and video such as…

• Aerial views will showcase the entire property and the accompanying land
• Showcases extensive landscaping
• Aerial imagery and footage has been proven to increase engagement with potential buyers
• If the homeowners have just invested in a new roof, aerial will help highlight this plus point
• If the home overlooks a preserve of park

I could reel off a load of figures and quotes from studies that highlight the impact drone photography and video has on real estate sales but I think we can take it as read that when done well and for the right listing it will help sell a home. Drones have pretty much come to be expected on listing presentations by homeowners and it would be negligent not to be able to offer it as part of your marketing package, but it’s equally important to understand when it’s probably not needed.
